一個在網絡上浮游晚上，我看到了Is Time to Take Medicine (ITTTＭ) 這個名字，最初吸引我的是名字，然後是那一件很長的T-shirt，T-shirt上的graphic是一個藥水瓶，上面有一些字，有些倒轉，有些順序。心想，這個牌子怪怪的，所以吸引了我。細看之下，找到背後創作人的資料 – Zoie Lam。於是好奇心之下，決定找Zoie來個會面。原來，在香港做創作，真的不能完全專注於一件事，有很多元素會有影響。要在香港創作界下立足，少一份堅持都”捱”不到三五七年。我們WIT MAG是次就為大家介紹Zoie，一個做時裝設計的創作人。
A floating night on the internet, I found a very interesting name that really attracting me, which is called “Is Time to Take Medicine” (ITTTM). It is about a very long T-shirt. On the T-shirt, there is a medicine bottle graphic and some wording on it. Some of them are in order, some of them aren’t. So I though, this brand is really strange, so that attracted me. After I detail look at this brand, I found some information about the founder, Zoie Lam. Because of my curiosity, I decided to find Zoie to have an interview. In Hong Kong, it is too hard to only doing one creation, if you don’t have passion to insist on creating art work/creation. It is really hard to live in the Hong Kong creative market. Today, we introduce a fashion designer to you, Zoie Lam.
1. 請向各位介紹一下自己吧.
大家好,我叫zoie lam,亦可叫作LAMYI,我是一名時裝設計師,愛繪畫,也愛平面設計,品牌名稱為LIBERTY,創業6年,今年亦為品牌6週年慶,會與不同的設計單位同推不同系列的單品,單品會於今月12月開始,以往後的每雙月推出,今個12月則會與本地創作組合WPW合推6週年紀念TEE andTOTE BAG SET,限量50組,每組也有獨立編號,會於12月推出。在上月也剛為CD店”ZOO RECORD”的外牆做了繪畫,為配合它的簡約風和店名,用了動物和單線條為主要元素,配合回CD店的風挌。
1. Can you introduce yourself?
Hi, My name is Zoie Lam, you can also call me Lamyi. I am a fashion designer; I love drawing and graphic design. I have started my brand for 6 years and it is called Liberty.This year will be the 6th anniversary of my brand,?Liberty will crossover with different design unit and issue different series of items. Start from this December, Liberty will issue the new item in very two months. In the coming December,
Liberty will issue the 6th anniversary T-shirt and Tote Bad set with local creative unit-WPW, limited to 50 set, there is a unique code on every single sets. I have also helped a CD store, “Zoo Record”, to draw their wall. Because I want to match the style and the name of the store, I chose to use animal and simple lines to be the main elements in the drawing.
2.為何選擇時裝設計這個行業？
在我很小的時侯,已很喜歡繪畫,繪畫的也是以人為主,還會在人物的服飾上作細緻的繪畫,但那時尚未知道什麼是時裝,但到了長大後,開始接觸到時裝,而我第一份工作便是與時裝有關的,令我更客易接觸到,那時起便開始產生濃厚的趣味,便投身了時裝這個行業了
2. Why do you choose fashion designer as your work?
I love to draw since I was very young. I mostly drew human, I also drew some more details drawing on the human clothing, but at the time, I didn’t know what is fashion. When I grown up, I started to touch fashion design, and my first job was related to fashion design, it made me reach more about fashion. Therefore, I became more get into it, and join the fashion design industry.
3. 怎樣看香港的時裝文化？
有感香港的時裝文化也頗受外國和日本影響,在香港較小有自己的一套衣著文化。
3. What is your opinion about the Hong Kong fashion culture?
I think the fashion culture in Hong Kong is really influence by Western and Japan,
There are less people who have their own fashion style.
4. 除了時裝設計，我們知道你還喜歡繪畫，你的畫作圍繞什麼主題去創作呢？當中有沒有想表達什麼意思？
我繪畫的畫主題是來自己的生活和日常接觸到的人和物,當繪畫時的我也會受當時心情的影響而作畫,顏色表達正好表達到當時作畫的我,在我畫中出現的”ZLISM”世界,也是從我眼中出發的角度,在”ZLISM”裹的夢幻世界,每一個角色也代表了不同的我和想法,當中亦有些畫作主題是反映社會上的問題,但會以”ZLISM”的角度出發去表達。
4. Not only fashion design, we know that u are interested in drawing as well. How do you start your drawing? Do you have any topic to follow when you draw? Are there any things you want to express in the drawings?
My drawings ideas are come from my daily life. I am also easy to be influence by my feeling when I draw, and colours is the most suitable way to represent the feeling of mine. The “Zlism” world appears on my drawings is the world that I see. In “Zlism” world, every character is representing the different of my feeling and myself. Some of the drawings are reflecting the problem of society but all of them are started from the point of view of the “Zlism” world.
5. 除了繪畫及設計之外，有沒有什麼日常喜歡做的事？
到郊外和户外享受陽光,睇書也是我喜歡做的事
5. What do you like to do in addition to drawing and design?
I like to go to out door to enjoy the sun light; reading is also my favorite activities.
6. 如果要向喜歡時裝設計並打算發展自己的時裝品牌的朋友說一句，那會是什麼？
是”堅持”吧。也是我時時提醒自己的話，“堅持”是 “堅”守自己終旨和”持”之而恆久地實行之意。在香港發展個人品牌有一定的難度,因香港地方少,發展空間細,如需長久經營,定要有一定的長遠計劃和”堅持”,有了”堅持”的心相信大家一定會成功的,有夢想的你們要一起好好加油呀！
6. If you want to say a word to the people who like fashion design and plan to have their own fashion brand, what will that be?
I think it will be “insist”. I always remind myself about insistence. “Insist” is about holding my aim and continuing take effect in my aim. To have and develop a brand in Hong Kong is very hard. Because of the less of space in Hong Kong, the development is so small. We must have long-term plan and insistence if we want a long-term business. I believe everyone can be successful when they have a heart of “insist”. Anyone who have a dream, you need to work hard and add oil!
